The vehicle is also allowed a maximum of one failed start, where the remote start sequence was initiated but the engine stopped cranking without starting.
After either of these conditions, or if the Vehicle Theft Alarm is alarming, or if the PANIC button was pressed, the vehicle must be reset by inserting a valid key into the ignition Therefore, make sure the keys are not inside the vehicle before closing the door. If you push up on the lever on the open edge of the door it cannot be opened from the inside of the vehicle. Press the window switch past the first detent, release, and the window will go down automatically.

In a collision, you and your passengers can suffer injuries, including fatalities, if you are not properly buckled up. You can strike the interior of your vehicle or other passengers, or you can be thrown out of the vehicle. Always be sure you and others in your vehicle are buckled up properly. Seat belts are designed to go around the large bones of your body.
These are the strongest parts of your body and can take the forces of a collision the best. Wearing your belt in the wrong place could make your injuries in a collision much worse. Page 39 3. A belt that is buckled into the wrong buckle will not protect you properly. Position the lap belt across your thighs, below your abdomen. To remove slack in the lap portion, pull up a bit on the shoulder belt. To loosen the lap belt if it is too tight, tilt the latch plate and pull on the lap belt.
The belt will automatically retract to its stowed position. If necessary, slide the latch plate down the webbing to allow it to retract fully. A frayed or torn belt could rip apart in a collision and leave you with no protection.
When you release the anchorage, try to move it up or down to make sure that it is locked in position. Keeping the mother safe is the best way to keep the baby safe. Pregnant women should wear the lap part of the belt across the thighs and as snug across the hips as possible.
A clothing bar will impede the proper performance of the window bags. The front airbags have a multi stage inflator design. This allows the airbag to have different rates of inflation that are based on collision severity. Page 49 up in the rear seat. The front airbag inflators are designed to provide different rates of airbag inflation from direc- tion provided by the ORC. When the ORC detects a collision requiring the airbags, it signals the inflator units. If A Deployment Occurs The airbag system is designed to deploy when the Occupant Restraint Control ORC Module detects a moderate-to-severe frontal collision, to help restrain the driver and front passenger, and then to immediately If you are involved in another collision, the airbags will not be in place to protect you.
Deployed airbags and seat belt pretensioners cannot protect you in another collision. You could be injured if the airbag system is not there to protect you. Do not modify the components or wiring, including adding any kind of badges or stickers to the steering wheel hub trim cover or the upper right side of the instrument panel.

You can turn the feature on or off by pressing the button at the base of the mirror. A light next to the button will indicate when the dimming feature is activated. Vehicles and other objects seen in the passenger side convex mirror will look smaller and farther away than they really are.
Relying too much on your passenger side convex mirror could cause you to collide with another vehicle or other object. Use your inside mirror when judging the size or distance of a vehicle seen in the passenger side convex mirror. Use the center off position to guard against accidentally moving a mirror position. Page Operation radio or the mirror has the two control buttons Phone Button and Voice Recognition Button that will enable you to access the system.

It may cause burns even at low temperatures, especially if used for long periods of time. Pressing the switch a second time will select low-level heating.
Pressing the switch a third time will shut the heating elements off. Turn Signals Move the multi-function control lever up or down and the arrows on each side of the instrument cluster will flash to show proper operation of the front and rear turn signal lights.
Page Interior Lights Interior Lights The interior lighting consists of courtesy lights mounted below the instrument panel, an overhead console light assembly which contains both driver and passenger reading lights, reading lights located above the rear doors, and a rear cargo light.
Opening a door or turning the center of the multi-function control lever to the extreme up position will activate all interior courtesy lights. Page Mist Mist Use this feature when weather conditions make occa- sional usage of the wipers necessary. Pull down and release the control lever for a single wiping cycle. Speed Sensitive Intermittent Wiper System Use one of the five intermittent wiper speeds when weather conditions make a single wiping cycle, with a variable pause between cycles, desirable.
It also allows you to lengthen or shorten the steering column. The adjustable pedal system is designed to allow a greater range of driver comfort for steering wheel tilt and seat position.
The system should be turned OFF when not in use. NOTE: The speed control system maintains speed up and down hills. A slight speed change on moderate hills is normal.
ABS Anti-Lock Brake System cannot prevent the natural laws of physics from acting on the vehicle, nor can it increase the traction afforded by prevailing road conditions.
ABS cannot prevent accidents, in- cluding those resulting from excessive speed in turns, driving on very slippery surfaces, or hydro- planing.
The system detects an emergency braking situation by sens- ing the rate and amount of brake application and then applies optimum pressure to the brakes. When ERM determines that the rate of change of the steering wheel angle and vehicles speed are sufficient to potentially cause wheel lift, it then applies the brake of the appropriate wheel and may also reduce engine power to lessen the chance that wheel lift ESP cor- rects for oversteering or understeering of the vehicle by applying the brake of the appropriate wheel to assist in counteracting the oversteer or understeer condition.
ESP Electronic Stability Program cannot prevent the natural laws of physics from acting on the vehicle, nor can it increase the traction afforded by prevailing road conditions. ESP cannot prevent accidents, in- cluding those resulting from excessive speed in turns, driving on very slippery surfaces, or hydro- planing.
ESP is deactivated at low vehicle speeds in 4WD low range so that it will not interfere with off-road driving but ESP function returns to provide the stability feature at speeds above 40 mph Always use caution when towing a trailer and follow the tongue weight recommendations.
HSA will work in R Reverse and all forward gears when the activation criteria have been met. It will usually not activate on level ground. The HDC speed may be adjusted by the driver to suit the driving conditions. The speed corresponds to the trans- mission gear selected. HDC is only intended to assist the driver in control- ling vehicle speed when descending hills. The driver must remain attentive to the driving conditions and is responsible for maintaining a safe vehicle speed.
Refer to the Warning Section and Note Section for limitations of this system and recommendations. Do not use rough or hard cloths. Do not scratch or poke the sensors. Otherwise, you could damage the sensors. The rear camera is now enabled. Press the lens to turn these lights on. Press a second time to turn the lights off. The lights also turn on when a front door or rear door is opened.
Your motorized door or gate will open and close while you are training the Universal Transceiver. Do not train the transceiver if people or pets are in the path of the door or gate. To do this, press and hold the two outside buttons for 20 seconds. Press and hold the just-trained HomeLink button. The name and color of the button may vary by manufacturer.
Page Using Homelink If you unplugged the device for training, plug it back in at this time. Activation will now occur for the trained device i. The sunroof will open fully, then stop automatically. This is called Express Open. During Express Open operation, any movement of the sunroof switch will stop the sunroof. However, the sunshade will open automatically as the sunroof opens.
NOTE: The sunshade cannot be closed if the sunroof is open. Wind Buffeting Wind buffeting can be described as the perception of pressure on the ears or a helicopter type sound in the ears. Pull lightly on the tab of the plastic cover to access the outlet. Press the switch again to turn the power off. It will not prevent cargo from shifting or protect passengers from loose cargo.
To cover the cargo area: 1. In an accident a cargo cover loose in the vehicle could cause injury. It could fly around in a sudden stop and strike someone in the vehicle. Do not store the cargo cover on the cargo floor or in the passenger compart- ment.
Cargo tie-down hooks are not safe anchors for a child seat tether strap. In a sudden stop or collision a hook could pull loose and allow the child seat to come loose. A child could be badly injured. Use only the anchors provided for child seat tethers. To help protect against personal injury, passengers should not be seated in the rear cargo area. The rear cargo space is intended for load carrying purposes only, not for passengers, who should sit in seats and use seat belts.
Page Rear Window Features 1. Flip up pull loop s so they are perpendicular straight up to the top surface of the tray. Pull up on loop s and twist 90 degrees, so they are parallel to the slotted hole in tray. Lift tray over loop s , and reposition tray. When the liftgate flipper glass is closed, the rear wiper switch or the ignition switch needs to be turned OFF and ON to restart the rear wiper. Be sure that the total occupant and luggage load inside the vehicle, plus the load on the luggage rack, do not exceed the rated vehicle capacity.
This vehicle is not equipped with roof rack cross rails as built, unless ordered as optional equipment. The load should be secured and placed on top of the cross rails, not directly on the roof. However, pressing this button will tem- porarily put the system in recirculation mode. This can be used when outside conditions such as smoke, odors, dust, or high humidity are present. This will cause the LED to illuminate. This means the customer can over- ride the blower, mode and disable automatic temperature control completely.
The operator can override the AUTO mode setting and select the direction of the air by rotating the right mode knob to one of the following positions. Page Air flows through the registers in the back of the center console, and under the front seats to the rear seat passengers. These registers can be closed to block airflow.

Winter Operation When operating the system during the winter months, make sure the air intake, located directly in front of the windshield, is free of ice, slush, snow, or other obstruc- tions. NOTE: Normal starting of either a cold or a warm engine is obtained without pumping or depressing the accelerator pedal. This could result in a flash fire causing serious personal injury. GCWR Max. Connect the heater cord to a ground-fault interrupter protected volt AC electrical outlet with a grounded, three-wire exten- sion cord. Firmly set the parking brake. Using a flat blade screwdriver, carefully remove the shift lock manual override cover which is located on the PRNDL bezel. Depress and maintain firm pressure on the brake pedal. Using the screwdriver, reach into the manual override opening.
This is a normal condition, and precision shifts will develop within a few hundred miles.
